There are many steps taken to determine if you are LASEK candidate. A good candidate must:
-
be free of soft contact lenses for at least 2 weeks; free of gas permeable contact lenses for at least 3 - 6 months
- have a complete eye exam with dilation within 3 months of LASEK
-
have a stable glass / contact lens prescription for 6 months
-
be at least 18 years of age
-
not be pregnant or nursing for 6 months
-
not have a medical history of diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, ocular herpes, or use of oral Prednisone
Other patients that will benefit from LASEK are those who have:
-
thin corneal measurements
-
had cataract surgery
-
corneal scars
-
had Radial Keratotomy (RK)
This is only a partial list of patients who are candidates and contraindications
