	Dr. Riley C. Sibley and Dr. Catherine T. Fitzmorris established Gulf South Eye Associates as a private ophthalmology practice in 1986. Since the practice's inception, Dr. Sibley and Dr. Fitzmorris have participated in and promulgated the most important advances in their field. Their early adaptation of the technical and surgical advances, such as no-stitch, clear cornea cataract surgery has sent a generation of their patients home to resume their normal lives without patches, pain or concern. Both Dr. Sibley and Dr. Fitzmorris were early practitioners of refractive surgery and have participated in all phases of its development. All three of our doctors perform LASIK, the computer-assisted refractive surgery and clear lens exchange for refractive purposes. Besides their busy surgical practice, Dr. Sibley and Dr. Fitzmorris are active as medical staff of the hospital which they are most closely associated. Drs. Sibley and Fitzmorris have both served as East Jefferson General Hospital's chairperson of the Department of Ophthalmology for many years and have served in leadership roles as chairperson of several committees.


	Gulf South Eye Associates offers a full range of eye care to the adult population of the East Bank of Jefferson Parish and its surrounding communities. While specializing in cataract and refractive surgery, Dr. Sibley and Dr. Fitzmorris routinely see and treat patients suffering from glaucoma and retinal problems. Being closely associated with East Jefferson General Hospital, they see a variety of patients with unique eye problems that may have been admitted to the hospital for other reasons. Dr. Sibley and Dr. Fitzmorris perform their surgery in both hospital and ambulatory settings. All refractive laser procedures are performed in a state of the art laser center using the most up to date laser and other equipment available. All of our doctors have performed thousands of laser and surgical operations. The practice has consistently made extensive capital investments in equipment, specialized instruments and employee training in order to meet the needs of our patients.
