Dr. Catherine Fitzmorris, a native of New Orleans graduated Magna Cum Laude from Loyola University and received her medical education at Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans. Dr. Fitzmorris was the Chief Resident for the Department of Ophthalmology during her residency. She has been featured in New Orleans magazine several times as the city's "Top Ophthalmologist" and "Nurses Choice". She was featured again in August 1999 when she was selected by her colleagues as having a positive inner vision.
Dr. Fitzmorris is Board Certified and has been in private practice in Metairie since 1985. Under her leadership, as Chairperson of the Department of Ophthalmology at East Jefferson Hospital (1987 - 1989), small-incision cataract surgery was introduced.
She began studying refractive surgery in 1992 and uses the Excimer Laser to perform refractive procedures (PRK and LASIK) since 1997.
In addition to refractive surgery, Dr. Fitzmorris has specialized in no-stitch, no patch, clear cornea cataract extraction with lens implantation, and has an active general ophthalmology practice.
